Haven't driven one of the first gens. From what i've read the second gen rides about the same, maybe a tad rougher over expansion joints and the like.

The first gen fit looks great, and I think both gens look better than the Ion. I test drove a Honda Fit Sport manual when they first came out because a friend of mine was looking at cars. It handled great and had great space for it's size, but I did find the power to not be enough for me. I was coming from the RSX-S at the time, and I probably would have traded 5 mpg for an additional 30hp on the Fit.

I'd say go for it if you can handle the power deficit, the Fit is a better car in almost every other way. Including the fact that Honda brand still exists and Honda still has a dealer network that exists. h:

I have 09 honda fit sport at with navi. Its been a great car, it can hold a ton of stuff with the seats folded down. The difference between this and the 1st gen to me is night and day, my sister has a frist gen, and it just doesnt seem as nice. My suggestion would be to get the manual if you want to keep the fun factor higher, the paddle shifters are nice, but they dont compete with a real manual.

mr22: Thanks for the suggestion. I looked at the scion/yaris for a little bit, but they really don't have that much interior space, where the fit has a freakin' house worth's of space

Lourenzo: I'll be definitely driving the fit when i'm home in a few weeks. How many miles are on it?

2gr8: I think the 2nd gen is out of my current price range. I'll be driving the manumatic and the straight stick, and see which one is more desirable.

No, it is not paid off. :hs: There's a little chunk left.

My main concern is:

The saturn still has a little bit of value. In two years, however, I'm not sure if that will still be true.
