I just started to play Mass Effect
The first one.
Fucking awesome game. I needed a break from Fallout 3 and this was definitely it. Its a little more constrained than I would like but I can't wait to beat it and play the 2nd.
I know you can carry your character over so I'm trying to make sure my character is well balanced.
Anyone else play?

I actually just picked this game up from Steam about a week ago. It's awesome. I love the story, the sci-fi setting, the characters, and the action is pretty good. The graphics are pretty decent -- the character models are impressive, though some of the landscape gfx & design is pretty boring/repetitive. The voice acting is fantastic as well -- though sometimes I swear the dialogue option I picked wasn't nearly as snotty or angry as Shepard makes it sound. I also feel like it's too clearly a port from a console at times -- I shouldn't have to rotate the camera to tell my squadmates where to go, I should be able to just click it with the mouse.
Anyway, it gets an A+ from me. My biggest complaint is that it's not a game that lends itself to playing in 1-2 hour chunks, which is generally all I have time for. I have trouble turning it off.
Oh, and it doesn't recognize my 5.1 surround, and I haven't figured out how to fix that yet.

I played ME1 when it came out so when ME2 came out I started to play it but realized I forgot the story. So 12 hours into ME1, I think few more hours then i'll beat the game.
Love Bioware games...but you can sort of see how much they improved the character choices in Dragon Age - like you can't go back in more choices.
But Fallout 3 > all bioware!

Black Isle made the best fallout ever.
Also, I'm 10 hours in and I'm only a small percentage through the game. I'm just going system by system and doing all the cool things

I'm a little disappointed that you immediately see the largest city in the game (or so I think). I enjoy working my way up to the large city's like in Fallout 1 and 2.
I bought ME1 months ago for $14.99. I tried playing it on 2 different occasions since then and couldn't get into it. Finally, a couple of weeks ago, I tried again, and I got hooked. It was a very problematic and unfinished game, but it was still fun...the story was awesome and it only took me about 18 hours total playtime to complete it (with many side missions done as well).
ME2 is far superior in most ways. Dunno about the story yet, though...I'm just beginning. And it looks like it's going to take way more than 18 hours to complete.'
but yeah, Fallout 3 > *
I might try out Dragon Age: Origins when I'm done with ME2
