Do any of you guys use this for your TV viewings?

Been wanting to cut back on cable bill and was looking into windows media center as my cable box replacement.

So far I use it to watch my movies. So far so good.
It'll help cut down the cable bill by 60 - 70 bucks if I go forward with this.

just want to hear opinions from the users of WMC

I DL episodes of what I want to watch then stream it to the Xbox through Orb.

Haven't had cable for 2 years now and I don't miss it a bit. I mostly watch movies when I do turn on the tv, it's a lot better than most the crap they put on tv anyways.

I was under the impression it was more of a complement to existing cable service rather than a replacement of it.

i do this, except with the original xbox and xbmc. although, lately i've been using the ps3 and ps3 media server to do it (including 1080p movies).

So it's a bloated version of what VLC does on an average box

Is that what Microsoft told you?

Without downloading illegal content (as John described above), I don't see how this replaced your cable television. It may replace a DVR, sure, but how do you intend on (legally) obtaining your cable content without paying for it through your cable provider?
