actually it was Escape, WRX, Vitara. I'm looking for a 4 door that would be great in snow. I need to be able to park it in snowbanks and get out of snow bank easily. I want it to be reliable and around $8K. Not too expensvie to maintain. It must also be automatic tranny and not too feminate.

those are the most important things, apart from that i'd rather is be comfy and a fairly good looking car so that i'm not embarassed going around in it. I know my budget is restricting but i really dont feel like spending more.

What are you suggesting?

I'm not sure about those years in particular, but the 90's suzuki/geo platform is actually pretty solid. Very reliable, good gas mileage and a lot more beef than you would expect from a mini-ute.
