Default Work advice v.quitting

soooo a while ago i decided to pursue other job oppertunities... and 30 minutes ago i got an offer i just can't refuse....

... only hitch in the road is they want me to start on the 14th... so in 10 days.

How do i leave my current job without giving 2 weeks? .... ps: my manager isnt even here today...

ps: i dont want to burn any bridges.

Did you inform your current employer that you were looking into other jobs? If not, then you must buck up and tell them the situation. They may let you leave with no harm done, but generally 2 weeks is the common courtesy.

Tell them you've accepted another job, it starts in 10 days, and that you're willing to work up to the point where your new job starts. Not much else you can do. There is no law saying you HAVE to work 2 weeks after a notice.

say, "sorry i can't give you two weeks notice, but i can give you ten days."

it's not that difficult to find someone who wants a job nowadays.

edit: what is your current job? i want to move to toronto, i'll take it

Yeah, I'd just lay it out on the table, that they gave you an offer you cannot refuse and that you will need to leave by this date. 2 weeks is more of a courtesy than anything. 10 days is still fine, not like you are giving them 2. Just don't procrastinate any on it. Band-aid style FTW.

there is nobody in the office today that i report to... .... so... i emailed my manager saying i need to see her first thing monday...

k3 im an disability insurance analyst... its an interesting job.. depressing at times due to the clients you deal with... and the pay isn't worth it :x
