You have nothing to do lose by doing a trial by declaration. Give a shot. =D

What are the downsides to trial by declaration? Can they jack up the fine on me?

BTW I'm already inside the 5 day prior to the appearance window.

Trial by declaration is a way to fight the ticket completely by mail, never once i had to make a court appearance. In the event that you do you lose in the trial by declaration, you have the option of paying the said original fine and going to traffic school if you're eligible or you can have a trial de nova, a second chance to prove your case in the courtroom.

My friends have gotten away with radar lock issued tickets as well. It doesn't hurt to try. In your case, just go to the courthouse and request a trial by declaration and they will push your court date back and give you a month to do your statement. All completely by mail. PM me and I can give you the links for the said examples off ticket assassins website because you have to pay for it but i have it saved. good luck man.

file an extension. downside is you won't know the status til a judgment is rendered, so a lot of waiting around.
