now I have a question. I just bought W7 for students ($29.99). Its for my dad, and hes getting the disks. But I just downloaded the e-copy and I plan to use the same cd-key. Is there going to be a problem, besides the licensing issue or do I have to buy another copy?

Also, if RedX sends me the CD-key can I use it too?

OK...WTF?!?! I install DivX which has an MKV splitter in it and I can't play mkv files? Not only that, but it is buggy and subtitles aren't showing up...

What codec pack are you all using?

I had vista on my laptop and I just updated it to Windows 7. Now when I go back to my desktop it looks so outdated with XP :hs:

Maybe my system is kind of dated, because I get a lot of laggy garbage with Win7. Not limited to games, just everyday processes on a clean install. Back on XP. I know it works.

Ugh, MKV support on 7. Something of a pain in the ass.

I got everything working at home, I'll post my settings later. Head to coreAVC forums if you want to do a bit of research yourself.

Here's a good post.

Which sucks because mkv is awesome for HD. I tried watching one last night and I had gorgeous video and no audio...this was through the DivX player also that has the mkv splitter

I'm playing .mkv with the Video Lan player on windows 7, works great. Unless you need to use Media Center with an extender, there shouldn't be any issue.
