Last night my friend and I were walking through downtown. We heard a bunch of screaming and yelling and looked down an alley at the next block over. There was an SUV parked in the middle of the road with all of the doors wide open. There were about 6 or 7 big guys beating the shit out of someone on the ground. They were punching, kicking, stomping and taking running kicks at him(I'm assuming it was a guy) and there were 2 girls screaming bloody murder for them to stop. We only glanced for a second and then kept our eyes straight ahead, so they wouldn't see us and come after us. Once we were out of eyesight behind a building I called the cops.
I'm just curious what HAN would have done, especially those of you with CCW. There is no way I would have approached them at all, but I'm just wondering what your guys' thoughts are about it if you had a CCW, would you try to stop it? Would you guys only use your weapon in self defense or would you try to scare these guys off? I think if I had a CCW I would have still done the same thing. I wouldn't have risked shooting at them or shooting to scare them in case they had weapons.

I was seriously freaked out. I looked in the paper today to see if it said anything about a death, because they were getting in huge blows.

 

I'd call the cops, but if they came after me that would be a different story....

Call the cops, unless you're Jason Bourne or Batman so can engage multiple enemy combatants. Otherwise you're asking for an ass whooping.

At a Halloween party I saw my cousin was getting his ass kicked by a bunch of stupid asian phaggot thugs. I had to jump in there to get him out and it wasn't too fun fighting multiple enemy combatants when your costume is a big kleenex tissue box

A good samaritan would of done exactly what you did, call the cops for qualified persons to resolve the issue.

A hero, vigilant, alpha male, etc... would of stepped in and took matters in their own hands.

The government, state, whatever... wants to protect you from danger. Trying to be a hero is a big liability. But with news of buget cuts and police force being minimized, the community is going to have to start regulating and watching out for themselves. Too many times Ive seen violent crimes happen and officers arrive only to file a report.

Where Im at, the police force has downsized and private investigator staff have gone from 16 to 8 and now only work from 9-5. This is in a city where crime has skyrocketed due to the tough economic times. There was a story of a woman who followed a hit and run suspect which led to their arrest. Instead of being commended for her actions, she got heat for "putting herself in danger" and to next time, call the police to handle it.
