Default Another laptop thread v HP

Looking to buy the gf a laptop for Christmas, she's already hinted at a PS3 with the new COD and extras, so I wanted to do something nice for her, and she has been wanting a laptop for some time now..

How does this look? I eyed it up at BestBuy and really like it:

Any opinions?

This one is similar, just a bigger screen:

Looked at others, these seem to be the best bang for the dollar..

I like my fiances HP. My only gripe is the placement of the touchpad in correlation to the keyboard...I always seem to hit it. Also...the shiny touchpad if your fingers are clammy gets harder to use. I REALLY like the dell studio touchpad.

HP's are ok.

Dell, meh. good enough for average users.

Laptop prices have dropped amazingly in the past year.

I should upgrade the thinkpad i got a couple years ago...

Seems a bit early to start Christmas shopping for a laptop. Wait and see if prices drop or if better machines are available.

p.s. Seems like too expensive of a gift for a girlfriend to me.

Does the keyboard light up? If not, I say it's wack.

As shallow as I know that sounds that's really the only gripe I have about my laptop. For the life of me I'll never understand why all laptops didn't come with lighted letters.

Don't believe so, I share your sentiments.
