Default Wine vs suggestions?

Tried Riesling last night at Olive Garden, it was good, but a little dry. Also had some red crap that was extremely dry and nasty..

Oh...hard to say then Go to a better restaurant and tell the waiter what you like in a wine...hopefully they can find you something good. If you have wine bars around your area, those are good to hit up. Usually the owner hand picks their stock and know each wine they serve pretty well.

next time you go to olive garden, turn around, walk out the door, and go to a better restaurant.
