Default Oh God...the MG bug is biting again

My dad, back in the day, owned about 5 MGs...MGC's ('67-69) I believe and got rid of them all before moving to Argentina. He always wanted to get another one for him and I to share when I started driving.

Since his passing I've thought about getting one again to honor him. Restored they are 'spensive as hell, but non/partially-restored is affordable. I can't imagine the cost to do restoration myself.

Thoughts?

GT is a better looking ride but honestly I wouldn't waste the money on one. Had an Austin Healey and it was a constant series of issues, fun when it ran but it didn't stay running long no matter what you did.

I'd go with the coupe. The roadsters are everywhere, and the coupes look way better.

I agree on the GT looking better than the roadster. And they're everywhere? I hardly ever see a MG round hurrr.

John, I want one though! :whining:

my dad had an mga growing up. saw mint ones for 100,000+ on the berrit jackson auction. my friends dad has an mgb he is restoring. they had those in the usa until 81 or so. you can find one for 10-15k.

I prefer the style of the MGC over the MGB, though minuscule.

i like the mga's. but too hard or expensive to find. its great my dad was like. i bought the car for 2,000. piece of shit didn't run in the winter. had to push it down the hill and pop the clutch. or. I had to put hot bricks on the engine to get it starting. but the car was fun as hell he said.

I saw a neglected one for sale around here. I almost went to look at it, but realized I couldn't afford it at any price and didn't want to get my hopes up. I say buy one and fix it up in honor of him.

I say do it, so long as you enter into the project with a level head about time and the cost of the restoration. Just be exceptionally picky about which MGC you choose to restore.

I for one would budget for a complete rewiring of the chassis to exorcise any demons left inside by Lucas. h:
