my coworker is surprised that i get my water from the water cooler when people will touch their mug rims to the spout and get their germs on it
do you guys feel the same way?

Mythbusters did an episode where they tested how much additional bacteria was shared if you "double dipped" your chip into salsa/dip. Turns out there are already large amounts of bacteria on everything prior to double dipping so the increase was negligible. You can safely double dip. I can only assume this would also relate to your example of mugs touching the water spout.

Seriously? This is why we have immune systems. Has he ever kissed someone before? That's like a zillion times more bacteria swapping, so prolly not.

Does he get it from the tap? You should pull the aerator off the tap and show him how nasty that thing is that his water is coming through into his probably steam cleaned cup h:
