my wife and I opened our own separate checking accounts. We then opened a joint account which we can both transfer money to without having access to each others personal. I make more than my wife and we split the bills 50/50. Fk that, just because I make more doesnt mean im going to pay more bills. What that does is enables me to take her with me on vacations, buy her shit, etc...........

But,...depending on what your fiancee can dish out, I think you guys should sit down and see what you and her can afford.

And despite you being right. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE WRONG! even when your right and the proof is in your hands. Trust me, you'll get pissed at first but, I've learned to laugh it off. Ohh, and if you dont know what i mean, you will eventually know. Dont want to spoil the surprise for you.

if you're gonna be married, i dont think you should say "this is what you have to pay for." seems kinda weird. but that's just my opinion. we do each pay our own things, but it wasn't that one of us told the other what to pay. we just made the decision together. the wife actually pays the mortgage and home/car insurance and i pay everything else. and we each pay our own CC bills.

 

well in our current situation since I make more and she makes next to nothing, i think it's fair she contributes even if it's just paying the utilities. Now once she starts making more then me, we'll probably make a joint account for bills and a joint savings account and split things 50/50.

This also helps too because i'm more considerate on how I use the utilities around the apt. I won't leave my XBOX on 24/7 because i know it eats electricity and she has to pay for it. It also saves me money because if i was paying electric i'd leave hte xbox on 24/7 cus i didnt care.
