Derivative based market explained...
I fortunately work for a Bank that couldn't comprehend how Heidi's unemployed drunks would repay their debts, and exited the business four years ago. They continue to churn along in a tough economy providing as much job security as there can be in this industry.
I am all for ballouts. The economy is fucked beyond repair. The best case scenerio is the US economy callapses and we have to start completely from scratch. The more likely scenerio is that the powerful banking industry eventually move us to a world bank. I don't particularly wish to live through either of these scenerios and bailouts just prolong the inevitable.

Yeah, those bailouts worked great. The companies that were supposed to be saved are now going bankrupt. And the banks that took the money are being told they can't pay it back, as then the gov can't control them. Awesome.
All the bailouts have done is put the taxpayers in a much worse position financially and the bars are still going to declare bankruptcy, the backlash of which will now be compounded considerably and we will pay a much bigger price for not letting things take their natural course as we trample bankruptcy law.
