Default another car thread v.formenotthewife

Talking Accords...

Both Sedan, LX, 4 cylinder, 4 door

the 98 (98k miles) I can get for 5300 + TTL
the 01 (93 k miles) I can get for 6300 + TTL

Which one should I go for?

Tax, Title & License.

All else equal, I'd take the 01.

Those are really close to the 100K service needed ... actually, it should have already been done @ 7 years.

100K service =
plugs
all drive belts
water pump

Also, see if the alternator was ever changed. Those things die out at 85K.

No, I sold my truck so I have to replace my vehicle.

Thanks. I'll ask him. Are they usually expensive? The water pump and alternator, I mean. I can do the work and I'm sure I can find someone to do the timing belt.

Thanks.
The drive belts + water pump usually come as a package when at the dealer. You have to dismantle a bunch of shit to get to the pump, so they cut a discount on the belts since they're in there anyways.

You can even get a discount on the alt too since that belt goes with the package.

The belts + pump ran me around $800. They had the car for a good half day. The alt was around $350 installed.

Afaik the V6s have issues, that's why I'm looking at 4 cylinders because otherwise I'd have to get a manual. I'm not opposed to that obviously but I need something the wife can drive if she needs to.

I'd really probably just need to buy the parts. I know enough people that owe me favors that I'd not have to touch a wrench.
