for some reason...the pic looks a bit "soft"

i'm still new at this DOF thing

 

It was shot at 40mm iso1250, 1/125 @ f3.5. It was a little overexposed but you can see where the af picked up. At 3.5 and so close, the DOF is very reduced.

I just wanted to get his face in focus so in essence you're right. If I shot it at F5 and down it would have a lot more detail.

Nah. I just shoot a shit ton of pictures and hope that a few come out decent. The kid is 99% always happy. We're crazy blessed to have such an awesome baby.
