stretched tires is nothing new, but for the most part, people do it to fit lower offset wheels on their hard parked cars.
drifter guys do it for the added sidewall stiffness/tire response.

I agree. I dont mind a subtle stretch to flush/tuck. But the clowns who take "1upping" to the extreme just try to hard.
