engines require a break-in period

things need to seat before it operates the best

1000 miles is a mfg recommended more to help cover them a lil ... 200 miles and you good to rock as far as im concerned

I've read some people drive the shit hard as long as its in operating temp... supposedly it seats the seals and such just as good if not better.

I dunno though...

the opinions all vary

i agree with you, but it is good to give it a 100 or 200 miles of average driving to check things

but yes, getting up to operating temp and running it helps seat the seals and the rings that much better
