FR, I know it hurts because he is your friend. I might feel similar and want to make excuses if it was someone close to me too, but I think after my emotions calmed and my logic took back over Id have to admit he deserves MUCHO prision time. He should be made example of. It would be worth it if it even made one person think twice about driving drunk.

this is the kind of sense that HAN has lacked for as long as I have lurked here... everybody dogs the fuck out of people in unfortunate situations but never has the fortitude to recognize that bad shit can happen, even to good people.

would I agree that the friend fucked up really bad? yeah, hell yeah I would... he made a whole series of bad decisions that night... but to imply that he is a piece of shit based on these bad decisions speaks volumes about the people saying it.

I challenge anybody here to honestly say that they have never gotten in their car when they probably shouldnt have... alcohol, drugs, lack of sleep, whatever... this could have happened to any one of us.
Driving drunk? I guess you could qualify that as a mistake. When you hit someone, drag them down the street while underneath your car, and then back up so that you can flee the scene??? That is not mistake. That is knowing you're in deep shit and trying to get your ass out of it. THAT is being a piece of SHIT.

I don't particularly believe in a heaven or hell, but if there is a hell I hope Satan reserves a special spot in hell for drunk drivers right next to Hitler and Carlos Mencia.

Fuck your friend. I might be an asshole for saying so but at least I don't kill people and run from the scene. Put yourself in the victim's wife's shoes, or maybe his kids.

I used to do a fair bit of occasional drinking and driving. It's stories like these that made me realize just how reckless I was being, even if I seemed to be driving fine.

Sorry to hear about the whole situation flyro. It always sucks to observe a friend get whipped by the law for doing something stupid/idiotic. Losing an acquaintance sucks also.

I try to learn from others' mistakes as often as possible.

Your friend should rot in hell. He didn't even stop. Well, technically he did to shake the scooter loose. Rot in hell I said.

not to mention he was 3 blocks from his house!
The street being poorly lit probably didnt help but being drunk was largely to blame. I can see where you're coming from trying to rationalize it because I'd probably do the same thing if it were my friend. I feel bad for you, the victim's family and for him. A few moments really can shape your life good or bad. Unfortunately he made a bad decision and decided to drive drunk. Then after he hit someone he ran. Not only did he run but he tried to hide the car. A series of bad decisions really fucked him. He could be a good guy that just really messed up and know he has to pay the piper. Not in hate at all but I do hope your friend sees prison time because that is just senseless. Someone lost a father because someone wanted to drink and figured they could drive. I fully suspect he'll wake up everyday and think about what he's done and regret the decision to get behind the wheel that night.

There will be some blowing going on. Probably in prison though.
