omg,...my friend killed someone this weekend driving drunk
Okay, in that case, I hope his friend gets set free. The bicycle guy probably deserved to be slammed by a car and left to die in the middle of the street. He probably deserved it, being a foreign delivery person on a bicycle in a poorly lit street, weaving inbetween cars like they always do. I can't believe the cops would arrest him. The city should really work on improving the lighting and perhaps create a bicycle path. Instead of making an example out of the individual, the government should lay blame on themselves.
this is the kind of sense that HAN has lacked for as long as I have lurked here... everybody dogs the fuck out of people in unfortunate situations but never has the fortitude to recognize that bad shit can happen, even to good people.
would I agree that the friend fucked up really bad? yeah, hell yeah I would... he made a whole series of bad decisions that night... but to imply that he is a piece of shit based on these bad decisions speaks volumes about the people saying it.
I challenge anybody here to honestly say that they have never gotten in their car when they probably shouldnt have... alcohol, drugs, lack of sleep, whatever... this could have happened to any one of us.

nobody is laying blame on the delivery guy and i think we all agree that the driver has to face the music & take his sentence...

I <3 James ftw
What the guy did was beyond explanation - definetly, and incredably stupid. But why are we shitting all over romeo? There is of course no explaining his actions, or trying to justify them. But this is obviously a very close friend, could have been life-long friends. Takes a real man to stand beside a friend who just did that. Lots would run, point the finger or just pretend you didn't know them. So if he has to try to rationalise some things to make it through the day - that is up to him. He's standing beside his friend, and I respect that. I think James and I are on the same page with this.
And to not expect some sort of backlash for jumping on a person looking for support is also unrealistic. He didn't do it - his friend did. I will agree, all hate for said friend is very justified... as I too have large quantities of hate for him.
