I use that sometimes phat... using a qtip can sometimes compact the wax and promote more of a build up h:

I have a friend who stopped biting his nails after his gf took him to get a manicure. She cornered him into doing it. She waited until they went to Hawaii for 10 days. Her thinking was that he shouldn't be stressed out on vacation. Once they got back, she sponsored a manicure. His hands looked better, and didn't want them looking fucked up anymore.
