Default troubleshooting camera issues v. SD1100 IS

I bought my wife a Canon SD1100 IS about 7 months ago because she didn't have one of her own. She uses it occasionally and we've never had any problems before.

Last night we noticed that when it was turned on the screen would have horizontal lines flickering across it. Today, I go to look at the pictures we took last night and the camera won't even turn on. I've charged the battery for a little while and still nothing...won't even turn on for a second. I used a backup battery and still nothing as well. Any ideas?

Isn't there a 1 year warranty from Canon? Send that bitch in for service.

Send it in. I am currently doing it for a 870is. Seems painless. Find the receipt though

Yeah, I just checked on Canon's website and the issues I'm having seem to require the camera being serviced. I just got out the camera box and I don't have a normal receipt but rather a card with my order number and purchase info from Amazon.com. I guess that's the same as a receipt. :hsdunno:

Removing the SD card from the camera now. We were out at the bars drinking last night so who knows what kind of pictures are on there. :hsugh:

And no, I don't think that's why the camera is not working properly now. h:

Yeah, I guess they would have a record of my purchase history.

I believe with Canon, they use local authorized repair places.
