Midwestern Italian chain restaurants are not good for eating healthy
My boss is taking us middle-management types out to dinner tomorrow night at a "nice" Italian restaurant (Biaggi's if you have one in your town). I'm neither overly fond of these people, nor in the mood for a heavy dinner. But I'm going anyway, and what with this being for work I want to seem gracious and interested in joining in the communal gorging.
So, what to eat? I decided to take a peek at the menu online in advance.
Pizza and pasta are non-starters. They have a couple of decent-looking meal-sized salads, but I don't want to deal with the comments from the peanut gallery associated with ordering one. So, to the entrees. Of the 14 options:
13 of them are either breaded/fried, have Alfredo sauce, cream sauce, creamy risotto, creamy rice, butter sauce, or buttery garlic mashed potatoes.
10 include two or more of the above items.
I have one choice left:
Chicken Pietro 14.99
Grilled chicken breast marinated in garlic, balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, rosemary and a touch of honey. Served with roasted portobello mushrooms and seasonal vegetables.
Sigh. At least this weekend I'm going to see Watchmen on the IMAX and the new Star Trek trailer (not the one that's already online) is supposed to be in front of it for double nerdgasm overload.

Too bad you're not fond of the dinner company. If it were a breaking-bread scenario, you might have more fun with the richness, and would have fun going off of a routine diet.
Sounds delicious
