A softboard is just that - its soft. Its for those who want some give in case they're afraid of falling into a regular board. Plus its cheaper and allows for "give" when it comes to damage.
Epoxy is stronger and more ding resistant.
Fiberglass is traditiona and better flex.

You can try but its giong to be really frustrating. Go with a funboard dude. Or just take my extra one that I have at my pad when you cruise out in March.
