A lobbyist for key police associations in the state called it "a bad idea whose time has not come."

"The last thing our society needs is yet more legal intoxicants," said John Lovell, who represents the California Peace Officers' Association, California Police Chiefs Association and California Narcotic Officers' Association. "We've got enough social problems now when people aren't in charge of all five of their senses."
That's bullshit. People are getting high whether it's legal or not.

Being under the influence of cannabis poses much less of a threat than being under the influence of alcohol.

But I'm not surprised cops are not backing this, some of them might be out of a job if this passes.

the amount of money the government spends each year fighting marijuana dealers they could be making through taxing it. its funny why it was banned. they should legalize it IMO. make tons of tax money and create new jobs.

One day pot will be legal and the government and everyone opposed to it will be like "Shit. We could have been making this kind of money for decades now!"
But I see Canada legalizing before any part of the US. Obama doesn't support legalizing weed.

It won't happen while we still have Stephen Harper as PM. The Conservative party wants to make drug penalties harsher.
