Default Deck Mounted Sub Box

Anyone here have/make their own deck mounted sub box? I think I may see how doable this is in my trunk.

I got a sub/amp for free and currently I cannot fit my guitar amp in my trunk with the current set up, so I'm tryin to figure out ways to keep the sub and keep the space.

I've seen some professional set ups, but I don't want to pay for a premade one..

Input?

rear deck mounted?

you're running IB...be sure to have the deck completely sealed and brace the hell out of it
dont expect to cut some holes, put your subs in there and it'll sound good

what's your current woofer? t/s?

Oh I know, not gonna drill and expect results. I'm aware it'll need braced. Here's a professional example of my goal:

Not sure how I'm going to go about this yet.

i thought you meant going IB at first...

nevertheless...going IB will be easier provided that you dont mind drilling/making holes to your rear deck

is that an e46 with the skihole pass?
you could easily take off the plastic skihole pass and use a high xmax 10" there (ive done it)

you dont have to seal them ... i've seen some open air setups that have worked pretty damn well but its not just as easy as drilling a hole and sticking subs in the deck

My brother put one in his 95 civic last year, uses the open baffle design. Sounds good, but can be boomy on really low stuff.

he used the wrong woofer/s for the job
typically...you'd want a high-ish qts woofer with decent xmax

generally...the lowend is exaggerated though..so for a good sounding setup...you'll need a bit of EQ and a subsonic filter near the very bottom
