Default accessing D-link router with att modem

so I am trying to incrypt my wireless router but when I put in 192.168.0.1 I get my DSL modem that att issued me. How do I access router directly? Do I need to disconnect the modem or is there a different IP I can use?

which modem is it?
i recently found out that ATT has a modem that is actually a router too so no need for a separate router

double click your wireless icon and navigate to the gateway number there... that might do it.

your router is probably autosensing it's hooked into a router and therefore downgraded itself to an AP

unplug the modem, restart the router and log into the router and change the gateway when you go in to setup the Encryption
