Default My buddy's house nearly burned down

There was a massive forest/brush fire just north of town today. I was working in Brighton, which is about 30 miles to the east, and there was so much smoke the inside of my car still stinks.

Then I got a call from my buddy this afternoon that firemen were kicking everyone in his neighborhood out of their houses, so he grabbed his cats and turtle and gtfo. Looks like it's pretty much under control now, but still...

One of the pics looks like the firefighter has a flamethrower. :chuckles:

That's a pretty gnarly fire. The so-cal ones are always bad, so no need to up up there. Make sure you change your air filter (and cabin filter, but I don't know if your car has one)

Woah. Awesome photo! I'm glad your friend and pets are okay, and I hope you get the smell resolved.

This sorta reminded me of something... a co-worker of mine had a slight fire problem... She mysteriously had towels catching fire in her bathroom while she was at work. They weren't burning up completely, but had clearly been on fire because it stunk to high hell in the bathroom and there were ashes on the floor. The next day it happened again, so she called the fire department to inspect her house and they discovered it was being caused by a parabolic shaving mirror in the bathtub that the sun was reflecting off of. They said it was common. I never would have suspected or thought of something like that. :dunno:

That is nucking futs. I would think aliens were targeting my house for some sort of scientific experiment.

Just for reference, in that photo, the little orange lights across the bottom are fire trucks.
