Default kittah crew v. food

what kind of food you give your kittahs? we've been using castor & pollux organix (link) because one of our kittahs had poop problems and this was the only food that fixed. but it's too expensive, and our other cat needs to go on a diet. so we're looking for something new. anyone use science diet (link)?

My g/f the vet tech hates science diet., but apparently their hairball low fat is good at solving diarrhea and my kitty has IBD

I'm currently feeding him Wellness Healthy Weight (he's a bit pudgy), and he likes that more than any other cat food he's tried.

tbh, unless your cat has specific needs your standard meow mix, friskies, fancy feast, whiskas and shit will do just fine. When they have more specific needs then you look into specialty premium foods. natural choice has a lot of good options, science diet has more of those hairball/UTI/sensitive stomach/sensitive skin formulas though. Blue buffalo, avoderm, royal canin and stuff like that are higher end with whole ingredients though. Like none of this processed crap gets in those. #1 ingredients will be the meats, whereas in science diet you'll get stuff like meat by-products and corn and shit as the first couple ingredients.

I'd go into a petsmart in the area that has a banfield and ask one of the people there to show you something for your specific needs. They know a hell of a lot more than your regular jagoff associates do by far. Though they might want to put em on a prescription diet, which will cost more than what you are paying for food now. But ask em. It won't hurt.

Science diet is shit.
Look for a food that has meat as the first ingredient, not cornmeal or by product. I looked around and found that the PetSmart brand has the best stuff for the best price. First few ingredients are good stuff, not just fillers like by product or cornmeal.

I do Iams now, my old cat ate science diet.

A word of warning from my friend in vet school: steer clear of the bargain bin pet food. It will cause serious problems down the line.

For the first batch, we got him just some cheap stuff. as soon as that's gone, time to move on up.

gonna start giving him tuna too... i was reading that this breed of cat requires a somewhat diverse diet.
