Wilma. I've run a couple halfs and an handful of 15k and 9ks. Best schedule for you is the hal higdon half marathon training schedule. Just google it. Make sure you follow it pretty closely, especially the long runs. I was doing the full marathon training program (training for the half) and even managed to keep my running up when I had to go to NY for my grandfather's funeral.

I ran 15 miles in central park that day.

i hate running. i only do it cause i have to.

3-4 miles a day in soft sand and constant elevation change sucks.

A few years back I bet my mom I could beat her int he Georgetown-Idaho Springs half marathon. I lost h:

I'd get shoes fitted at a store that can analyze your gate. If there's anything weird about your form, you can seriously fack up your joints. Other than that, I just took it easy and only increase distance in small increments. I'd also work in a hill run once a week. Doing other physical activities (weights, biking, swimming, etc) will also help keep your body going on days off from running.

These days I only run twice a week about 4 miles (8 total).
