Default intresting tip on how to clean coffee brewing stuff

So my current coffee machine was all kunked up and I just ordered a new one. My buddy is a coffee guru and knows alot about roasting, brewing and maintaining all that stuff. So I told him I wanted to keep the carafe from my current setup but its to difficult to get in there with a brush to clean. So he says get some ice, dump it into the carafe and add some salt. start swirling it around and it will do the job. It sounded so simple I laughed and said thats it? So I did it and the carafe has never been cleaner, I was just kind of amazed how well it worked. He also said if you want to clean out a brewer to brew vinagar to clean out the machine and without a filter and do it outside because it will stink. So 2 intresting tips to use if you have a coffee machine and your not sure how to clean it.

my buddy worked in a resturaunt and thats how they keep their coffee stuff clean and thats why you usually have a really fresh tasty cup of coffee, it all made sense. especially after I tried the salt and ice trick on my carafe. I laughed because I didn't expect it to work so well.

Done vinegar before, but never the ice and salt.

Do you put water in with the ice and salt or no?
