Just got back from taking the lineman's test, I flopped a few ?'s on the algerbra but I think I aced the reading/comp. Instructor said if you did so-so on one and aced the other you'll be fine.

y = 3(x²-2x+5x-10)
y = 3x²-6x+15x-30
y = 3x²+9x-30

 

Yes:

Ignore the 3 for now and go back to it later

First = X*X = X^2
Outside = X*-2 = -2X
Inside = 5*X = 5X
Last = -2*5 = -10

Add it all together:

X^2-2x+5x-10
X^2+3x-10

Bring the 3 back into it:

3(X^2+3x-10)

Distribute the 3 and you get 3x² + 9x - 30

 

y = 3(x+5)(x-2)

y = 3((x*x)(x*-2)(5*x)(5*-2))
y = 3(x²-2x+5x-10)
y = 3x²-6x+15x-30
y = 3x²+9x-30
