Leave it to a priest...
wow,...now lets get back to the issue here. The priest said this to kids not adults.
Eventually they will come to realize "santa" doesnt exist when they are probably 11-13yrs of age
I dont think its the job of the priest to tell CHILDREN anything religious whether its fact or fiction. Let the parents decide that. I'm tired of churches trying to shove the bible down peoples throat. I spent most of yesterday answering my door to preachers. WTf,..go spend time with family. If I wanted to know about the bible and such I'd take it upon myself to go to sunday mass.
This priest is an idiot IMO. I think most of you forgot what it was like being a kid

i don't see how believing in Santa clause as an innocent naive kid is worshiping a false idle. believe <> worshiping.
this is where the catholic church fails in my vierw. just cause you believe something doesnt mean you worship it. its their way or the highway. i will take the highway. and i was born and raised roman catholic. they should get with the times. but not destroy their religion and what they beleive. but letting the kids believe in santa as another way to get them to do the good word and teachings of jesus they can incorporate.
you believe in jesus and be good, great your soul goes to heaven. you be good each year and santa gives you gifts. which one do you think the kids care about more?

The greatest trick the devil ever played was making you believe he doesn't exist
h:I by no means am religious, but you have to understand the situation unbiased.
To add to Augusts comment, it is not about what is popular but about what contradicts the very teachings given in the book that your religion is based upon.
Of course if they were following their own guidebook they would have at some point read the line that basically said not to celebrate his birth but rather celebrate his death for it was the far more important of the two.
Don't get me started on Easter either...man what a crock of shit that is.

Too funny, I was just about to chime in on the Easter Bunny
h:Also notice how they call them holidays instead of holy days, if you are religious at all and that doesn't seem a little queer to you...you're doing it wrong.
