flawed logic.
tickets are $45-50 BECAUSE people are willing to watch these players.
if people didn't want to pay that money, the stadium would be empty and players wouldn't be making anywhere near the amount they'd be getting.
teams invest lots of money in the players because they believe people are willing to pay the money to go watch them. the more money people are willing to shell out, the more teams have to invest in players.

no choice? from my house, i can get to NY Yankees, NY Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, Philly's, Orioles, Red Sox all within more or less the same distance. And if I want to go a little further, I can hit Cleveland, Pittsburgh, or Washington. I have lots of choices.
