i always wait for 2nd gen or later.


as for restocking fees..it is common for all places. Best Buy and other major electronic stores also have them.

Didn't anyone else pay attention to Jobs' speech a while back, where he said (paraphrasing at best) their customers should expect to buy a new version of each product every year? (rhetorical)

I prefer the 2nd plus generation but I can't wait sometimes....

I've had this happen with me on Apple products. Purchase 1 iPod only to have a new one come out 2 weeks later.

Policy vs. what Apple does is usually completely different once you're in the store and being nice. I've had them on multiple occasions repair or replace items that were out of warranty after a known issue with said item popped up. Their customer service has to be the best of any computer company I've dealt with.

They really try to be the best at customer service. It's why people prefer to go out of there way to find a apple store rather then going to BB or CC
