I just park in the garage to solve that problem.

Right now my car is covered in a few inches of snow (at work) and I hope there isn't any ice under there

WTF, I get pissed if I have ice on my windshield.

Get a bucket of hot water and pour it around the door.

I just whack it with my shoulder or arm. It's never been so frozen that I needed water. I don't have this problem anymore since I park in the carport.
