That said, it's a good facsimile of the E46 325i.
It'll be a pretty painless commuter car with the auto trans... but I'd hold out for a manual.
i would say it's a bad facsimile of e36 and even worse for e46 h: handling wise it's just not there. luxury wise, it's just not there.

it was the opinion of mine as well as several people on is300.net board before it was changed to clublexus or something like that.

as well as that of automotive journalists. the car is what it is. base luxury model with sporting intentions but can't keep up to the standard in that segment. the 3 series.

The IS is slow stock. I can't even chirp the tires with the traction off. But if you boost its a whole nother story.
I just bought a full used turbo kit for $2500. I can't wait for the spring

I can't recall any major issues with the car at all, the IS300s are our more reliable cars. We barely see them have issues other than normal maint and the occasional a/f ratio sensor. Thats just about it though. The only thing that frustrates me with the IS is it shares basically the same type of suspension setup as the GS and SC430, the camber adjusters in the rear like to seize up. That may not be a problem out west though.
