another great dog story
Frozen Dog Causes Outrage
Wisconsin (ChattahBox) – In a case that has caused widespread shock and disgust, a 59 year old woman has bee arrested for throwing her severely overweight dog into 6 degree weather, causing it to become frozen to the sidewalk.
11-Year Old Jiffy, an obese border collie is 50 lbs overweight, and cannot lift himself off of the ground, making him unable to walk. He crawls and slides himself across the ground to get around, the first sign of serious mistreatment from his owner, and a frequent cause of alarm from neighborhood families. But when the woman forced Jiffy into near freezing temperatures, he became stuck to the pavement for over 12 hours, causing a distressed neighbor to call the police.
“It is very disturbing to see a dog that overweight and then to actually come up and see the dog frozen to the sidewalk. It was very, very traumatic for me,” Human Society worker Carey Payne, one of the people sent to deal with the issue. “I’ve never seen a dog actually frozen to a sidewalk before.”
The woman was released from custody shortly after her arrest, and it is now in the hands of the district attorney, who will decide if she will be charged. I, for one, feel that she absolutely should be, and I know I am not alone.
