I was arguing against it. we have trees outside, just put lights on one of those.

how can I use the largest aperture possible on my lens without having some of the lights look blown out?
EDIT: I'm hosting the photo on Flickr instead of Facebook because it seems that Facebook degrades the quality.

take your f-stop up to about 12 and play with the speed

The car ones I shot @ 50mm, 2.2 and 2.5, 1/4000 sec shutter and 1/1000 sec shutter
The tree was @ 26mm f7.1, 1/4 sec shutter
the ornament was @ 50mm, f6, 1/10 sec:rockon:
