It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. I'd say its worth watching once, as a rental... at least. The acting was fine by and large, and the effects / robot were cool.

I have the original version on DVD so I watched it again...really enjoyed it. I grew up during the height of the cold war in Germany and then was in the 7th grade for the Cuban Missle Crisis, and 8th grade for Kennedy's assassination.
