Involuntary layoffs started today, I survived

I've been laid off twice by the same company. lol.
No matter what happens it's for the best. The first time I started my own business and made $97,000 the first year. After getting re-hired 14 months later with a $10k raise over what I previously made, I ended up getting laid off again 2.5 years later. Then I ended up at a much better job that paid $10k more than the first and overflowing with thousands of hot rich girls.
For your sake, you should update your resume NOW, and keep your horizons open for better opportunities. Getting laid off isn't fun, and updating your resume when you feel pissed off and betrayed is really difficult. You're easier to hire if you're already employed, and you will notice that the mood in your office is in the toilet until they're in good enough shape to grant christmas bonuses and go on a hiring binge again. Everyone I know who stayed at the ol' job after the layoffs were completely demoralized and nervous at all times. That's no way to work.

Their position was ended immediately so they are pushed out the door. But they do have the opportunity to apply for any jobs that are posted and are hiring.

Thats true. This position is just a supervisor role in a different area of the company. But I have plans to take that further if I get selected. Now I dont know if it will be the right move though.
I work for a large communications company. Our technology isn't a dying industry at all. Just affected by the bad economy and a recent investment in technology that will soon help drive our company.

I remember my dad telling me how people used to put programs on the server that would monitor when they login. If they don't log in within a few days, or have put a password into the program, it goes through and clean the entire network. This way if they were fired, then they would take the whole network down. :lmao: Apparently they were scared shitless of this happening everytime they did layoffs because a lot of people did it.

Yes, if they want to get stuff done around the house, etc. while business is slow. That way the company can downsize its workforce and the employees who want off can get off, and those who want to work can work...

on Tuesday the week of thanksgiving 100+ ppl got layoff in one shot. only 5ppl survive on a 16k sqf floor.
