Default My Jury Duty case. You all will like the case I was on

I can now disclose what it was since verdict was returned 15 minutes ago.

I was selected as an alternate juror for a case against an 18 year old kid who was arrested on misdemeanor charge of Illegal Speed Contest 23109(a)(Street racing).

He owns a 1995 Honda Civic, stripped interior, short ram intake, new fuel rails/injectors, Acura CPU, lowered, exhaust, new clutch plate, flywheel, Stage 3 Dragsters sticker on car, etc.

Officer saw him and car next to hims headlights rear up, engine rev high, screeching tires at launch at a green light (Car meet happening on next block), sudden deceleration, cop can only pull over one, so he pulls over the kid with the modified car and proceeds to arrest him. Kid claims that it was an accident, that he had just installed the fuel injectors and adjusted the timing so he was testing the changes. Mind you he says that he worked on his brothers car in Spring Valley and was pulled over on Clairemont Mesa/Convoy which is ~18 miles from there. Claims interior was stripped because he bought it that way 16 months prior.

So with all this evidence, he got a verdict of:
Not Guilty. He got off. Young 18 year old, in a stereotypical car at 10:20 at night.
likewise, had I been on the jury.

The defense attorney asked the jury selection pool if any of us have modified or know people who have modified a car. I raised my hand, but she didn't pick me...otherwise I would have been excused right then and there hahahha

Cop was sitting on side of road. They launched for some time, then drastic decel when they probably saw the cop. Defendant immediately changed lanes behind the other car to try and sway the cops opinion I am sure.

You don't need to break the speed limit to incur a speed contest in the state of california.
