glare really isnt an issue. there are some many video display variation it offers that ur bound to find the right combo for ur viewing area.

Now i have another issue......................

audio or maybe video is delayed. gots a bad echo with the surround sound on.

All this Hz talk is just a new fangled way to put FPS and response time. Hz=fps=refresh^-1

480Hz is merely a response time of 2ms

shouldnt make a difference in sound between coaxial and digital (unless the noise floor is really high)
the echo is more likely related to your receiver's processor, which model is it? did you try different surround settings?

Just turn the TV speakers off. If there is a audio/visual delay you can dial that in with your receiver. If you don't have a center channel you're probably going to want to get one.

S/PDIF and the optical TOSLINK are the same digital format just one is optical the other digital... they'll have the same exact results.

You might also want to think about getting an HDMI reciever, they're pretty decent now and some might allow you to use the TV as a center again.

:edit:

you might also be experiencing a processed echo, make sure your receiver isn't set to Hall or Large Room etc...
