Disconnect your Wii from the internet. Do not upgrade to the 3.4 firmware. The optimal firmware to have is the 3.2. With the 3.2 firmware, you can install custom .WAD files, or channels onto the Wii Dashboard. (Emulators, WiiWare, etc)

When modified with the WiiKey 2, there are options to have the chip block updates. Also, never play a backup that's outside of your region code. If by chance you update your console with a firmware that's outside of your region (NTSC system, PAL update), you'll brick the console.

I was able to get 2 new LG GDR-8162b's for $50 on eBay. These are old drives though ... I think they were last produced in 2003.

Stayed at a nice hotel ... gambled at the shitty Imperial Palace nightly. :chuckles: The drink girls were fast, the roulette table had a low minimum, and I saw a white Mariah Carey impersonator. It doesn't get better than that.
