well, you said used... you can jump back a few years (like a 02 or something) and get a similar price as a newer jeep.

didn't the commander come around in 06 or something?

My friend emily has already had 3 trannies put into her commander. The interior is crap and it doesn't ride all that well.

if you are going to buy any jeep, you might as well spring the extra and get it brand new... its not like they are flying off the lots so you should have some leverage for negotiation. aaaaand if you buy new, you get the lifetime warranty and dont have to worry so much about reliability.

that said, anybody i know that has owned a jeep hasnt really had any reliability issues anyway... but my experiences are limited to wranglers, cherokees, and grand cherokees. oh yeah my sister had a liberty, too but no problems with that either...

came to post about Transmission problems with Jeeps. My experience with them has been that they're decent vehicles if you have the money to spend working on them

my parents got a 02 Liberty last fall, and it's been awesome so far. not a big hauler (relatively small interior), but has a lot of grunt.
