Default So I purchased a computer for the top of my lap

Dell XPS 1530
  • Tuxedo Black Finish
  • Full Hi Definition, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LCD (1920x1200) 2.0 MP Camera
  • Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T8100 (2.1GHz/800Mhz FSB, 3MB Cache)
  • 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz (2 Dimms)
  • 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
  • 320GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) with Free Fall Sensor
  • Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition SP1, 64-bit
  • Slot Load DVD+/-RW (DVD/CD read/write)
  • Sound Blaster High Definition Audio 2.0
  • Dell Wireless 1505 Wireless-N Mini-card
  • 85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery (Makes it a bit heavier but I get pissed off when it runs out of batteries)
  • Finger Print Reader XPS M1530
  • 2Yr Ltd Hardware Warranty, InHome Service after Remote Diagnosis (Free, otherwise I normally skip extended warranties)

(not sure if this is the Tuxedo finish)

Jon, Make sure you do a search re the NVIDIA 8600gt and heat problems in the XPS. I read something about them sending up driver and bios updates to deal with the heat from the GPUs frying the mobo and peripherals.

Dell has a bios update that should fix the problem.
