Default iTouch v.Myself

Thinking about getting an iTouch for christmas. I'd have to chip in whatever is over ~200ish
I can get a refurbed 32gig 1st gen for 319. Or I can get a new 32 gig 2nd gen for 399.
The main differences(I think): A little smaller(Not much), external speaker and side volume control.

I really like the idea of having an external speaker. I wouldn't use it all the time, but it would be handy for some apps, or if I didn't have my headphones and was alone.
The side volume control would be nice too so if I was wearing gloves I wouldn't have to take them off to adjust the volume.

But I don't know if thats worth spending an extra 80 bucks.
My previous ipod was a refurb and I had 0 problems. You get a new battery and a new casing.
I think Costco has them for like 20 bucks off(Not positive though)
My current ipod is a 30 gig and I have about 5 gigs free on it. I could cut back on the songs I have, but I like to have a large selection of music depending on my mood. Then plus apps(I don't know how large the apps are).
What does HAN think?

2 gen also already has the new software installed whereas I think you have to pay to upgrade the 1st gen ones.
2 gen also has tried and true technology over the 1st gen. 1 gen was a tester imo.
16gigs is a lot of music...anything beyond that and you just don't trim your collections down, and need to. There is a SHIT ton on my 20gig iPod (that's only like 60% filled) that I rarely touch.

You have to pay for software upgrades? Wow, lame.
I actually have about 17 gigs of music on my ipod right now. I could cut it down below that. There are some artists that I have on there where I only listen to 1 or 2 albums out of the 5 or more I have on there.
I'll have to see how much the Costco discount is.

the new touch has a built in speaker ... that alone makes G2 > G1.

New 2nd gen 32 gig for 399
Go big or go home. If you're going to spend $300, you might as well spend $400 and get the newer one with more storage. It's like buying a $30K Chrysler but going for the base model to save a few thousand.

Or go onto live.coms eGay special and get 25% in the form of a rebate so $400-$100=$300 for 32gb
