Default Weird computer issue

So my mouse slowly moves around the screen under its own whim. Sometimes it's fast...sometimes it's slow...sometimes it stop.

There is no grit or dirt in the way of the laser on the mouse...

Ideas?

SO wait....it sounds like you have 2 issues. Are you saying your mouse moves by itself, or when you move the mouse, sometimes it's fast, sometimes slow.

When I am not touching the mouse it does this...It used to only do it during start-up, and then when the computer was done it stopped...some items were removed from msconfig startup and BAM now it's all the time.

Chalk another win for Toshitba

Sounds like the trackpad, what happens if you use an external mouse?

How old is the laptop? I saw it once where the exhaust fan was dirty and clogged with crap, and the excess heat actualyl was causing the trackpad to act wonky. Opened the laptop and cleaned all possible exhaust ports and fan and it went away... weird as it sounds.

my external mouse does that once in a while. it's gotta be the mouse, it's really old. if i hit the mouse while it's doing it, it stops.
