My laptop is about to be laid to rest. Last night while finishing up a paper I had my hard drive freak out with loud clicking noises. I've heard a bunch of hard drives go bad, and this was the same sound. Luckily I could start it back up and everything ran fine, except for firefox. It runs but after about 5 or 10 minutes, then nothing is loaded properly. None of the buttons work, I can't type urls, I can only use google search. About 100 blocks are bad on my hard drive, which isn't much, maybe 400 kb, but its enough to fuck up my computer. Thats all it found, I ran it twice and got different numbers, so I may need to run it a few more times.
So I was like, that sucks, but I can still use it, which is good.Wrong. Today I boot it up and the screen has dancing colors, but then fixes itself when I log in. Tonight the screen is worse and doesn't fix itself when I log in. I found the only way it works is half closed. Luckily I bought this laptop for black friday, so its just under a year old, meaning it should still be under warranty. I've always been careful of this laptop. I would take good care of it. I have no fucking clue what happened.
So now I have to go take it to best buy to get a new hard drive. I'm not letting them touch shit on it though. I'm hoping its not a screen issue because I don't want to give it to them or send it off. When I replace the hard drive I'll reformat it and check if that helps anything(Doubtful) then I'll take it apart and play with the ribbons. This morning it was working fine when I was booting from a live cd. I'll have to see if that still works.

This is odd. Now I can have the screen open to 90 degrees before it stops working.

I bought it for 200 on black friday. It was on sale for 400 that day but they fucked up. Its a 800ish dollar laptop.

And I just booted onto a live cd and it was still happening, so its a hardware issue.

you will be under the manufacturers warranty so best buy can send it out for your under that. also if you swap out the the hard drive the manufacturer might not touch it since you changed something on it. also check to make sure that it is a 1 yr warranty some laptops, depending on manufacturer and price have more limited warranties. good luck
