Good looking car but 3k lbs is the Euro spec not the US spec. I am sure that much like the Elise this car will be burdened with power options which will do nothing but slump the performance into the mediocre category and take any semblence of true sports car design away from it 
it wont be the power options that make it heavy, like the elise it will be the safety equipment that will make the car heavy, but i'd like to have 200lbs of safety equipment if you ask me.
